Welcome to the Zuckerwatte kitchen

Holualoa

Lovely to see you!

I am Miss Zuckerwatte. Let me take you away to my virtual kitchen where I like to spent my free time, always on my search for new ideas and delicious combinations.

At all times by my side is Mister Zuckerwatte and together we guzzle through life and all across the world.

What you will find on this blog?

Mostly seasonal recipes with a colourful flavour mix from Asian to Mediterranean, home baked bread and from time to time we indulge in a little sugar rush or a short trip to other countries.

You will find recipes with meat and fish as well as vegetarian or even vegan dishes.

You want to know more about me? Okay…

Besides cooking and blogging I work as a self-employed photographer and graphic designer, based in Germany…

… and I am quite a geek.

I always have bubbles at home.

My favourite colour is “everything colourful”.

My favourite food is “everything tasty” – and the basil pesto from my Dad.

I just love to make my own sausages, to flambé and to pour a generous amount of wine into our food.

I was born with almost no oesophagus at all and because of this malformation I could not eat at all or just very hardly for the first 12 years of my life.

The most delicious food I ever ate was an antelope loin with red wine sauce in South Africa and a dish of sea food pasta on Hawaii (I honestly still grieve for the rest I had to give back…!).

I dream of a stay at the Fäviken restaurant… and a leisure residence on Oahu.

I love to cook with chopsticks – especially whilst cooking Asian food.

I don’t skimp on butter, olive oil and other ingredients that enhance flavour and like to cook with a glass of wine in my hand.

My favourite knife is an Asian Santoku and only Mister Zuckerwatte is allowed to use it from time to time.

You want to know more about me or you have questions about my recipes?

Then I would love it if you leave a comment. Either directly here on this blog or on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Also you can always write me a mail: ylva@derklangvonzuckerwatte.com

I’m looking forward to reading from you and hope you have a fun and delicious time here on my culinary playground.

I would hitchhike from time to time through Europe. Your father gave me a ride from Belgium to Munich and his car was full of beer. He liked that I had a mandolin, but he was a much better musician than I. We camped and played music with friends in the Black Forest. On my second trip we could not visit much, as you were having health problems and we’d hover around your hospital. I am a 4th grade public school teacher in Sacramento,CA USA and have four daughters. I still play mandolin. I like your blog and am so happy to hear you are healthy and enjoying eating! Take care! Love, Bob Batten

Hello Bob, how nice to hear from you. Thank you so much for your comment! Yes, that sounds like my father. How good to hear that you still play mandolin after all these years. Such a wonderful instrument; I like it very much myself.
And California… what a great State! I hope we will be able to visit there some day, and not only for the fresh seafood. 🙂
      Take care! Love, Ylva
